Sometime before Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers made their major-label debut with “Damn the Torpedoes”, Mike Campbell bought a 1972 Telecaster from a former guitar student, complete with an onboard boost known as the “Destruct” circuit. Campbell used the Telecaster, known as “Red Dog”, on “Refugee” and countless other tracks with the Heartbreakers. The new Fender Stories Collection Mike Campbell Red Dog Telecaster pays tribute to this unique Telecaster, with an heirloom nitro “Red Dog Red” finish, 1-piece maple neck with 7.25” radius maple fingerboard, onboard “Destruct” boost circuit, Bigsby B5 tailpiece!
