Neck Details: One piece mahogany neck with bound ebony board and block inlays.
Electronics:
The wiring is all original with PAF pickups and 1960 pot codes.
The three way switch selects bridge, bridge/middle or neck. The middle pickup cannot be selected alone.
The middle position is out-of-phase.
The neck pickup cover was removed and the internal ground connection was repaired. This repair was done in-house at Chicago Music Exchange. The pickup has not been rewound.
Pickup Measurements: neck 7.7k ohms middle NA (cannot be selected alone) bridge 9.1k ohms
Hardware: -
The bridge and switch tip are not original. The bridge is a later 60s ABR with a retaining wire.
The jack plate has been replaced. The rest of the hardware is original.
The guitar was custom ordered from Gibson with metal truss rod cover, embossed with musical symbols and the name "John Marshall. There is no evidence of any other truss rod over ever being used on this guitar.
Weight: 12 lbs 1.8 oz
Modifications / Repairs: The neck pickup cover was removed and the internal ground connection was repaired. This repair was done in-house at Chicago Music Exchange. The pickup has not been rewound. There is a slight wing separation on the bass side of the headstock, under the low E tuner that has been repaired.
Case Details: Original hard shell case. Cosmetic Condition: The guitar has moderate play wear. The finish is glossy but faded with light checking throughout. The hardware is nicely tarnished. There are dents and scuffs throughout. There is a cigarette burn between the nut and the low E tuner. The back of the body has considerable buckle rash. The treble side corner of the back of the headstock is chipped off. This is not affecting playability or structural stability.
Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action. The original "fretless wonder" frets are small with light play wear. The serial number and pots dates to 1960. -The guitar was custom ordered from Gibson with metal truss rod cover, embossed with musical symbols and the name "John Marshall. There is no evidence of any other truss rod over ever being used on this guitar. There is also a "John Marshall" label on the original case.
