Neck Details: | Set-in mahogany neck with bound ebony fretboard, block inlays, and headstock truss rod adjustment. There is a repaired heel break, with repaired cracks extending up through the cutaways and under the tenon cover. There was a previously installed cover over the heel, which left four open screw holes on the back of the body. The neck has also been previously refretted, and the nut has been replaced. |
Electronics: | Original electronics, with Gibson "Patent Applied For" neck humbucker and original Gibson middle and bridge pickups with early patent number stickers. The neck pickup has an "F" marked on the bottom, and some solder joints in the harness have been touched up. Controls include volume and tone controls for the neck and bridge pickups, and 3-way toggle selector switch. The middle and bridge pickups are out of phase in the middle switch position. The pot codes date to 1962. |

Cosmetic Condition: | This vintage Gibson SG shows moderate to heavy cosmetic wear; the original Polaris white finish shows checking and wear along the edges of the body, and is glossy with assorted small dings and scratches. The back of the body has tape markings as well as wear around the repaired heel. There are open screw holes at the heel from a previously installed plastic cover, and the hardware is nicely tarnished with age. The back of the neck is heavily worn, and there are a few small chips in the ebony fretboard from the prior refret. There are six open screw holes on the back of the headstock from previously installed tuners. |
