Finish Details: | The body has a finish touchup on the side of the treble bout, from the strap button to around the control knobs. The back and sides of the neck have been oversprayed as well. |
Body Material: | Maple |
Body Details: | Semi-hollow body with laminated maple back, sides, and top. The body has a sticker with serial number 820173. |
Neck Material: | Mahogany |
Fingerboard Material: | Brazilian Rosewood |
Neck Profile: | "C" profile |
Neck Thickness (IN): | .89" (1st fret), 1.04" (10th fret) |
Fingerboard Radius: | 10.00" |
Nut Width: | 1-9/16" |
Scale Length: | 24 1/2" |
Neck Details: | Set-in mahogany neck with unbound Brazilian rosewood fretboard and oval inlays. The neck has been heavily modified: the neck has been reset, and an additional strip of wood has been added below the fretboard. The neck has been oversprayed, and has been refretted. The back of the headstock has the serial number 847096; the "2" stamped below the serial number indicates the guitar was a factory second, likely due to the mismatched serial numbers. Although unlikely, it's also possible the neck is not original to the body, |
Electronics: | Original patent number mini-humbuckers and original wiring harness, with 3-way toggle selector switch and volume/tone controls for each pickup. The pot codes are not visible. |
Pickup Measurements: | 6.8k (neck), 6.8k (bridge) |
Hardware: | The guitar has a non-original vintage Bigsby; there are visible filled screw holes from the original trapeze tailpiece, as well as from the original location of the strap button. These are fully covered by the Bigsby mounting plate. The guitar also has a non-original bone nut. |
Modifications/Repairs: | -The neck has been reset and refretted -The fingerboard has been removed, and an additional strip of wood added beneath it -The nut has been replaced -The Bigsby is not original to the guitar -The neck has been oversprayed, and the body has a large touched up area on the side of the treble bout |
Case Details: | The guitar will be paired with a gig bag |
Cosmetic Condition: | The guitar has considerable finish checking throughout the body, particularly on the front. The finish has many spots of haze and small blemishes/chips as well. There is some finish wear around the neck heel from where the neck has been reset, and the back of the neck has been fully oversprayed. There is a sizeable finish touchup on the side of the treble bout, extending from the strap button to approximately the control knobs. The headstock also has normal wear on the face and around the edges. |
Serial Number: | 820173 |
Tech Notes: | Plays well with low action and light neck relief; the neck has a slight twist as well, resulting in more relief on the treble side. The guitar is currently strung with 10s and has been set up to accommodate these factors. The guitar was a factory second, likely due to the mismatched serial numbers of the body and neck; the body and neck serial numbers date to 1966. |
