Finish Details: Original finish on the body and neck.
Body Material: Mahogany
Body Details: Solid mahogany body. The pickup routes have been modified to allow for humbuckers, and at one point the guitar had a Tuneomatic bridge and stop tailpiece installed. The tailpiece holes have been filled with mahogany plugs, and are covered by the "Custom Made" placard. There are two open screw holes by the bottom strap button from another prior modification. There is also a repaired crack extending from the output jack around the outer wall of the control cavity.

Neck Details: Set-in mahogany neck with bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, and headstock truss rod adjustment. The tuners have been replaced.
Electronics: The pickups have been replaced with 1972 Gibson humbuckers with patent number stickers and embossed covers. The pickups are screwed directly into the body wood, and so height adjustment is limited. Original wiring harness components, with 3-way toggle switch and volume/tone controls for each pickup. The pot codes date to 1961.

Hardware: The tuners, nut, and switch tip have been replaced. The pickguard has been modified for humbucker mounting rings.

Cosmetic Condition: This vintage SG shows nice aging and plenty of authentic wear, with checking and various chips and dings on the body and neck. The edges of the body have finish wear, with heavy buckle rash on the back of the body. There are open screw holes on the bottom edge of the body, and the back of the neck is heavily worn. There is a reglued chip in the headstock just above the low E tuner.

Tech Notes: The guitar play well with low action and mild neck relief; the original frets are wide and low with light play wear. The serial number and pot codes date the guitar to 1961.
