Description

Ladies and Gentlemen, Monty’s Guitars are proud to introduce Monty’s Montypresso - the Original Guitar Relic Wax.

If you are looking to turn your ’03 into a ’63, or your R9 into a ’59, Montypresso is the perfect solution. Applying it to open-grained woods darkens and relics the lightest shades of grain while giving a smooth, gloriously grubby finish, and let’s be honest who doesn’t like one of those.

Montypresso has two main applications, the first, when applied to an open grain fingerboard, made from such fine timbers as rosewood or pao ferro, it will darken the wood to the rich, shade of golden-era Brazilian rosewood with the look and feel of a well-played board. The second is to give the open grain on the back of a guitar neck the appearance of an instrument that has seen many a sweaty palm and the open, worn areas of a body the grubbiest of hues.

Simply rub a generous amount onto your fingerboard or the area you wish to darken and leave for five to ten minutes (the longer you leave it, the better the result) then take a clean cloth and buff it off. For the best results, we recommend multiple applications, spread over time, to allow the stain to soak deep into the wood and work its magic.

Montypresso will only work on bare, open-grained woods. If there is a finish on your guitar, the neck or body, the Relic Wax will not penetrate the grain and stain it to give the desired effect.

At its base, it is made from the same all-natural ingredients as our Instrument Food so while relicing it is also helping condition and feed your wood, but it is far less potent than the 'Food, so we recommend after relicing feeding it a generous helping of Instrument Food to keep it satiated and double seal in the age.

There is a warning with Montypresso and the warning is two-fold, FOLD ONE - please do not forget it is a stain and once applied will make a permanent change to your instrument, please be totally sure you want to rub on some age before commencing, you will not be able to find a cosmetic surgeon talented enough to turn back these waxy hands of time. And FOLD TWO - whilst it works wonders on guitars it is not so great with clothing or soft furnishings, so please be careful when applying it, Monty’s Guitars Ltd will take no responsibility for the brown stains on your couch cushions.

Gloves are recommended when applying, again, it is a stain, so please glove up to avoid a nasty case of brown thumb.

It is made from all-natural ingredients and is non-toxic, but please, however desperate you are for your next java fix, don’t be tempted to ingest it.

Montypresso now comes in a tin that holds the same amount of wax as our old Montyfied expresso cups and for the extreme coffeeholic's out there, it is also available in Monty's coffee mugs.
